Lily D Oviedo – A singer born in the beautiful city of Camagüey, Cuba. Her aptitudes, voice, talent and charisma were lost in her native country where here gifts had not been discovered. But sooner or later the talents inside are revealed. Today Lily D Oviedo gains ground daily demonstrating quality in her performances and with each concert she leaves a trail of fans who support her work as a singer.
Her band is composed of Cuban musicians based in Scandinavia; musicians with a high international background and the vast majority of whom have brilliant careers, as in the cases of:
Carlos Pérez - Trombonist par excellence from the great Cuban groups and winner of a Grammy for the CD La rumba soy yo. Ex-member of Paulo FG, Issac Delgado and currently director of the powerful Cuban-Danish band Grupo Danson.
Oldrich González – A young pianist and ex-member of Charanga Forever, and an active member of the Afro-Cuban All Stars under maestro Juan De Marcos González
Yasser Morejón – A bassist like few others. Member of the band Grupo Danson, the Afro-Cuban All Stars and a great jazz musician who is highly sought after by the best Scandinavian jazz groups.
Yarién Oviedo – A very young singer and but who has already had a brilliant career. A member of the project Live from Buena Vista Havana Lounge, of the Afro-Cuban All Stars and many other bands in Sweden, in addition to being a percussionist in the Latin Jazz band of his father Calixto Oviedo.
Richard Ortega – Keyboards and trumpet. Ex-member of two of the best groups in Cuba: Azúcar Negra and Maykel Blanco y Salsa Mayor and currently the director of his Cuban-Swedish band La Jugada.
The other musicians are no less important and they are emerging as the youngest stars as in the cases of Whitney Hernández, singer and trombonist as well as being the oldest of the Oviedo Hernández family. And Yohan Ramon an excellent and versatile percussionist who is an important part of any band.
Calixto Oviedo – musical director and drummer/timbalero with an illustrious career of 38 years as a professional percussionist. Click here to read his entire biography.
